Collagenum's Collagen type II and Vitamin C drops is a unique dietary supplement for promotion of healthy joints. The dietary supplement is made from Swedish raw materials and is supplied in an easy to dispense liquid form. Collagenum is a result of Swedish research where we can ensure that collagen is of high purity and that it retains its natural three-dimensional structure, that is it is not denatured. In addition, we can test that the collagen protein is in its glycosylated form - that is the collagen protein has a sugar bound to it. The fact that it is not denatured and that it is glycosylated is important for so that the collagen type II is not to be broken down in the gastrointestinal tract before it is absorbed into the body and recognized by the body's cells.
WHY IS COLLAGENUM UNIQUE?
Collagenum is unique because we have a method that can test that the collagen type II is gylcosylated and not denatured ensuring it has the same structure as the collagen type II that is found in the joint. Dietary supplements where the collagen is hydrolysed is denatured and most likely not glycosylated. Research has shown that glycosylated collagen type II is important for its bioactivity (see references below).
Collagenum also contains vitamin C which contributes to normal collagen formation which is important for cartilage function.
